Catherine Marie French - Anti-trafficking Warrior
Catherine Marie French, a.k.a. “Cat” was well known in the anti-human trafficking efforts in Houston and the surrounding areas. Cat was a trail blazer in the anti-trafficking movement early on. She is the Founder and former director of Elijah Rising. Cat founded Elijah Rising in 2009 as a ministry. Nonprofit status was awarded in July of 2013. She was aggressive and passionate about getting the word out about the issue and wanted to prove to Houston that trafficking was happening right in their back yard and that Houston was the number one hub in the nation for sex trafficking. While, not everyone agreed with her methods, she was loved and looked up to by many that joined her in her efforts in the early days of Elijah Rising. She conducted awareness van tours, classes and trained staff to do outreach in a variety of ways.
She holds a master’s degree in Sociology from University of Houston.
